Suffolk video production in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Woodbridge

We're a video production company in Woodbridge, on the River Deben, and the Suffolk films come first on our own list: Culford School near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk Family Carers, and the Ipswich charity Dora Brown. We've been making corporate, brand, interview and testimonial films across the county since 2018, and we work in London and across the UK as well. We do the directing, the filming and the editing ourselves, and the crew scales to the brief.

That puts most of the county within an hour of the edit suite. If you're in Suffolk and you'd like to meet before you commit to anything, we'll come to you.

Filmed in Suffolk

Culford School, just outside Bury St Edmunds, asked us to film Tyler, a golf prodigy at the school, before his US Open debut. We spoke to Tyler and to the people around him about how the school has supported him, from joining Culford to deciding golf would be his career. One of them played with Rory McIlroy at Tyler's age and doesn't hedge: "he's every bit as good as Rory was then, if not better."

A charity film has to make a stranger care about someone they will never meet, without the person on screen feeling used. For Suffolk Family Carers, which supports young people across Suffolk who care for a family member, we caught up with the team and with carers and let the film explain the charity through the people it's there for.

Dora Brown is an Ipswich-based charity that clears and cleans homes for people in need across the East of England. We made a film for the charity that shows that work and the people it helps.

Filming in Ipswich, Felixstowe and the east of the county

Ipswich is a short run down the A12 from Woodbridge, and Felixstowe isn't much further once you're on the A14. Framlingham sits inland to the north of us, and Lowestoft is at the top end of the A12. That's the longest drive on this side of the county, and it's still an easy day.

Being this close changes how a shoot gets planned. A recce can happen the week before without costing anyone a day, and if the weather turns on an exterior, moving the shoot is a phone call. We know what the light does on the Orwell estuary on a September morning, and you only learn that by living here.

Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket and Newmarket

The west of the county runs along the A14. Stowmarket is about half an hour away, Bury St Edmunds a little further on, and Newmarket is the far end. It's close enough to Cambridge that a shoot there can share a trip with work over the border.

Culford School, just outside Bury St Edmunds, is a Suffolk client we've made several films for. As well as Tyler's film, they include the Who We Are film about the school and an International Women's Day film written by the young women who appear in it. You can read how the Culford School brand film was made.

Corporate video production in Suffolk, and what else we make

Most Suffolk briefs end up as brand film production or corporate video production. Whatever the brief, the person you talk to first is the person who directs, films and edits the film. Schools and charities bring us briefs with a small budget and a story that deserves a bigger one, and we make both of those true at once. Everything else we make, from training films to social video, is on the video production services page.

What a Suffolk shoot costs

Being close changes the bill as well as the schedule. A recce the week before costs nobody a day, travel is costed openly on every quote, and inside Suffolk it's a small line. The video production cost page sets out what films cost at each budget and why, and the first conversation and a ballpark are free.

Over the border

If you're north of the Waveney, there's a page for video production in Norwich and Norfolk. For the region as a whole, start with East Anglia.

FAQ

  1. Is First Last Film based in Suffolk?

Yes. First Last Film is based in Woodbridge, Suffolk, and has made films in Suffolk since 2018, for clients including Culford School, Suffolk Family Carers and Dora Brown.

  2. Which parts of Suffolk do you film in?

All of it. Ipswich, Felixstowe and Framlingham are a short drive from Woodbridge, Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket are on the A14, and Lowestoft and Newmarket are an easy day either way.

  3. How do I choose a video production company in Suffolk?

The difference you'll feel most is what happens when the weather turns: a local crew can recce the week before and move the shoot with a phone call, which a crew driving up from London can't do as easily. Beyond that, watch films they've made for organisations like yours, find out who will direct, film and edit yours, and get a written quote that shows travel and every other cost.

  4. Do you only work in Suffolk?

No. Most of our work is for businesses in London and across the UK, including OakNorth and Dojo. Suffolk is home, and local shoots are where being close helps most.
