Education / Brand Film. Who We Are shows a family what the school feels like, not just its pool and its labs. The International Women's Day film was written by the students themselves.
Culford is an independent school just outside Bury St Edmunds. We've made several films for it. The main one is Who We Are, an overview film that shows the breadth of what the school offers.
Parents choosing a school have usually read every prospectus going, and they can tell when a film has had the life polished out of it. So the job with Culford has always been to go beyond the basic messaging and draw out the charm and personality of the school and the staff.
A film about a whole school can easily become a tour of the buildings, and every independent school has a swimming pool and science labs to show. Who We Are covers the breadth of school life instead, so a family watching it gets a feel for the place as well as the facilities.
We've made open day films for both the prep school and the senior school and sixth form, and virtual open days for families who couldn't visit in person. You can watch them below. There's also a film of outtakes from a Culford open day, which shows the staff away from the formal moments. It helps parents see the human side of a school that might otherwise feel distant.
For International Women's Day, we worked with women at the school on a film that was written by the young women who appear in it. It's their words and their ideas, and our job was to film it in a way that did them justice. Working with young people on camera depends on them feeling at ease, and the films are better when the students say what they think rather than what they've been told to say.
